Here at Mantra Amphora, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.
We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. Instead of single-use plastic items like toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps, guests can now request dry amenities through room service or at our reception desks.
In our efforts to further reduce single-use plastics, we have transitioned to large format amenities throughout the hotel. These eco-friendly pump dispensers replace single-use plastic bottles, significantly reducing waste generation while aligning with our commitment to environmental stewardship.
Here at Mantra Amphora, we are committed to sustainability and supporting our community. One of our key initiatives is our recycling program, where we collect deposit bottles and cans. Proceeds from this program go directly to supporting the Ronald McDonald Foundation. This initiative not only helps reduce waste but also contributes to a meaningful cause that supports children and families in need.
Maintaining strong connections with our local community is integral to our values. We actively support local charities and businesses, fostering partnerships that contribute positively to our community's well-being. As part of this commitment, we are proud to be a major contributor to fundraising efforts for the Cairns Children's Hospital ward. Alongside many private and business partners, we work tirelessly to provide much-needed resources and support to ensure the best possible care for the children and families in our community. This collaboration exemplifies our dedication to making a meaningful impact and underscores the importance we place on giving back to the community that supports us.
The traditional owners of the land in Palm Cove, QLD 4879, are the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji and Yirrganydji people. They have a profound connection to their land and sea, with traditions rooted in sustainable fishing, hunting, and gathering. Known for their rich cultural practices, including storytelling and ceremonial activities, they actively work to preserve their heritage and languages. We respectfully acknowledge their custodianship and pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging.
